Synopsis

“You can’t help but fall in love with Lynsay Sands!”
—New York Times bestselling author Christina Dodd Lynsay Sands—the perennial USA Today and New York Times bestselling author well-known and loved for her delightful novels featuring the Argeneau family of vampires—once again shows us another side with Taming the Highland Bride, the second in the  wonderfully witty, supremely sexy historical romance series she kicked off with Devil of the Highlands. With Taming the Highland Bride, the incomparable Lynsay pays homage to the immortal Bard, William Shakespeare, as she delights readers with a tale of a smitten Scotsman’s determined efforts to tame his beautiful, hot-tempered fiancée, the notorious “Stewart Shrew.”

About Lynsay Sands

I have always heard avid readers (or listeners, in the case of audio books) say that one of their happiest times is getting lost in a good book. But, it never occurred to me that the writers of books feel the same way. Ontario, Canada born author Lynsay Sands has just that feeling when she writes. She says it may be that writers are secret control freaks, getting to make "God-like" decisions such as who is good or evil, who lives or dies, who is successful or not in every story. One satisfaction is making sure the good guys win and the bad guys get their punishment....... that does not always happen in real life. Sands says writers are also dreamers who get to make a living doing their dreaming.

Sands favorite genre is writing about vampires. As a matter of fact, she would not mind being one. She imagined being one as she wrote her books, all of which have a touch of her good sense of humor. She promised the vampire community that she would not reveal too much or use real names. But then, as she got into her writing, she did not keep her promise, and found it humorous to go back on your word to a bunch of vampires.

Sands has been writing Paranormal Romance books for several years, but not since 1142, the year she claimed to be born, as a vampire. She likes to explain......."that's what books are; waking dreams or stories, tales to amuse, entertain and distract us from everyday life".

As I was reading the second book in this series, I suddenly realized this story could have been taking place in Montana or Wyoming. Yes, Lynsay Sands tells us the action occurs in England and Scotland, but there are no descriptive paragraphs that transport the reader to either location. One of the r......more

2 ½ stars. Ordinary. Nothing special. STORY BRIEF: Merry’s father and brothers are drunk most of the time. Merry manages the laird and the household and oversees the men’s fight training. She is known as the Stewart Shrew because she’s so tough on her father and brothers when they are drunk. A marriag......more

Sadly, not as good as the first book but still a solid read. Very slow, hard to get through at times. Not a lot of action. Not as good as first book in the series because characters were not as compelling. Didn't stand up to my high expectations sadly. But, it was still an easy way to escape for a c......more

I give this one 4.0 because, really, the only thing I didn't like about it was how identical it is to all the other books in LS's Highland series. It's the same old story, some mystery person is trying to kill either the hero or the heroine. They take a long journey that gives the killer ample oppor......more
