Synopsis

An unwanted orphan. A life-changing mistake. A wild imagination that will capture your heart forever.

When aging siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert send to the Hopeton orphan asylum for a sturdy young boy to help work their farm at Green Gables, they are entirely unprepared for what arrives at the train station. Instead of a quiet boy, they receive Anne Shirley: an eleven-year-old, fiercely passionate, relentlessly talkative, and highly imaginative girl with fiery red braids and a desperate yearning for a real home. Marilla is determined to send her back, but the quiet, gentle Matthew is instantly charmed by the spirited waif. As Anne fights to prove she belongs at Green Gables, she navigates the lush, blooming world of Prince Edward Island, making both kindred spirits and bitter rivals along the way.
Listeners of all ages will instantly understand why this remains a towering pillar of Children's Literature. You will fall in love with the iconic tropes of found family, heartwarming coming-of-age, and the transformative power of unrelenting optimism. Anne's hilarious blunders, fierce independence, and dazzling flights of fancy offer an enchanting escape into a simpler, more beautiful time. Her indomitable spirit reminds us that there is always scope for imagination.
