Synopsis

In the third book of the series that VOYA recommends “for fans of Percy Jackson and Harry Potter,” the war over the Eighth Day continues—and there’s more at stake than ever before.  The battle between Kin and Transitioners that’s been brewing for centuries has finally come to a head. The sinister Kin have captured Evangeline’s younger sister, Addie, a descendant of Merlin whose presence will allow them to reverse the Eighth Day Spell and free themselves. Addie doesn’t realize the full consequences of her cooperation. She’s been helping the Kin because they value the strength of her magic—something Evangeline never did. The feeling of power coursing through her veins is impossible to resist.  Meanwhile, Riley, Evangeline, and Jax craft a plan to rescue Addie from her captors. But the Kin’s unstoppable magic, and a rebellious Addie, force Riley to reconsider if saving Addie is worth sacrificing everyone who lives in the seven-day week. Jax won’t let Evangeline’s sister be used as a pawn, so he risks it all in a secret mission of his own. With the Morrigan pushing both sides of the war toward annihilation, Addie must decide where her loyalties lie, while Jax, Riley, and Evangeline confront the possibility of losing Addie to save the world.  Adventure, action, and magic collide in the latest installment of the series that School Library Journal called “fast paced and exciting.” • A Twist on Arthurian Legend: Descendants of Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table clash in a centuries-old war, with magic that could rewrite history.• Urban Fantasy Adventure: Join Jax, Riley, and Evangeline as they navigate a hidden magical world layered over our own, from the streets of New York City to forgotten fortresses.• Found Family Bonds: A powerful trio must rely on each other to face down an ancient evil, even when one of their own is lost to the other side.• High-Stakes Magical Quests: The mission to rescue Addie becomes a race against time, forcing heroes to decide if saving one person is worth risking the entire world.

Maybe closer to a 2.5. As far as a series goes that is based on Arthurian legends, the real Arthurian parts have been a little buried until now. And, unfortunately, that's the best thing I can say about this book. The premise regarding an "Eighth Day" and a parallel universe is kind of exhausted, so......more

Eighth Day series   If you haven't read The Eighth Day, stop reading and see my review. This may give away details of the first book.   I loved this series. Don't fall from thin air with a knife wound in your back right in front of the girl you secretly like. Listen to me, it's......more
