I do not remember learning that an author had not learned how to read herself until the age of 11. But that was the case with author, Julie Garwood. She missed so much school with having a tonsillectomy at age six, the nobody realized that she did not complete her education in reading, and was not discovered until age 11. Amazing that the same child would grow up as Julie Garwood, a very successful American author. Her Irish heritage was an important force in her growing, as well as adult years. She also contributes her success to being the sixth of seven children. She says that relatively early she discovered that to be noticed in such a large family, her self-expression had to be "forceful, imaginative, and quick"!!!
Garwood's loyal readers seem to enjoy her poignant sense of humor, just as well as her ability to steer her readers toward crying and falling in love. Her mission with each book is to transport her readers to another world, after which they will feel like they have been in a great adventure.
Through local writer's conferences, Garwood met her future agent, even though she had never intended to become a professional writer. She lives in Leawood Kansas, and is currently writing tell notes for her next novel.
This story is about Christina who was born English but was raised by the Dakota Indians when she was 2. You will have to read the story to find out why. She came back to England. You will have to read the story to find out why she came back to England. She met and fell in love with Lyon, the Marquis of Lyonwood. I loved Christina's character. She was so sweet and endearing. Lyon was strong, handsome, and devoted to Christina. This a wonderful story of love, family loyalty, and friendship. Julie Garwood really knows how to weave a story with wonderful characters. I am happily looking forward to reading more books by Julie Garwood.
4.5 stars Rereading old Julie Garwood’s books because I’ve been feeling kinda meh about the romances I’ve been reading. I desperately need to break the curse and read something that’s not a three star romance. I love how different this book was from both her other books and from other HRs. It was suc......more
4 Stars Overall Opinion:This was a cute story full of some fun banter and great characters. I enjoyed it. I'm liking what I've been doing lately with throwing in some historical romances along with my go-to contemporary romances just to mix things up. So, if you have any great HR books that you'd r......more
One of my favorite Garwood books. I love her heroines, and Christina Bennett, raised by Native American Indians, is a fish out of water in Regency England. Not that that stops her from taking the city by storm while riding bare-back and finding her fierce Lyon. Some classic LOL moments in this book.......more
Easy and entertaining, comfy good fun. The sly humor and fairy tale quality allowed for the suspension of disbelief right out of the gate. What I Liked ♥️Much of the story was from Lyon’s POV. 🔪🎈Said POV was often done as a setup for smile and laugh worthy comeuppance. 🌈A miracle! The third act drama......more
This is the first book in the Crown’s Spies series, which I've been wanting to read for sooo long, and I had so much fun with it! I freaking adored Lyon and Christina. Their romance had all the Julie Garwood charm I was looking for, PLUS it had a hero who fell first and acknowledged his love first.......more
