Margarita Engle is the Cuban-American author of many verse books, including the Newbery Honor winner The Surrender Tree, the PEN USA Award winner The Lightning Dreamer, and the verse memoir Enchanted Air, which has won many awards, including the inaugural Walter Dean Myers Award Honor and the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award. Her books have also received multiple Pura Belpre Awards and Honors, Americas Awards, Jane Addams Awards and Honors, and more.
Thom Rivera is a multiple Earphones award-winning narrator. He is also a classically trained television, film, theatre, and voice actor. Based in Los Angeles, he spent twelve years living and working in New York City. He has toured nationally and performed at regional theatres and Shakespeare Festivals throughout the US. On television, he can be seen in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, New Girl, The Mindy Project, and the CBS series Zoo.
Raúl Colón is a prolific and popular illustrator and muralist. His work has been featured on the cover of The New Yorker, and he has received The David Usher Greenwich Workshop Award, SI Gold and Silver Medals, honors from Communication Arts and 3×3, and two Pura Belpre Awards. He has also twice been included in the NY Public Library’s 100 Titles for Reading and Sharing and has twice been the recipient of The Tomas Rivera Mexican American Children’s Award.
