Synopsis

Lost Sci-Fi Books 161 thru 165 brings together five unforgettable stories from Theodore Sturgeon, Edmond Hamilton, Isaac Asimov, William F. Nolan, and Evelyn E. Smith. Alien ships fill the skies, a man is born with wings, mysterious experiments raise troubling questions, and humanity faces futures no one could have predicted. The Sky Was Full of Ships by Theodore Sturgeon begins with Gordon Kent on trial for murder. The evidence may point toward one man, but determining who—or what—is truly responsible leads toward a much stranger explanation. He That Hath Wings by Edmond Hamilton tells the story of David Rand, a man born with wings and given the freedom of the sky. Those around him want him to live an ordinary life, but after experiencing flight, the ground becomes a prison he cannot accept. The Pause by Isaac Asimov begins with white powder sealed inside transparent capsules, carefully spaced along strips of parafilm. It seems precise and controlled, but Asimov turns this seemingly routine scientific procedure into something far more unexpected.Small World by William F. Nolan imagines Earth after alien ships strike. Lewis Stillman survives, but survival is only the beginning as the familiar world disappears and everyday existence becomes a struggle in a dangerous new wilderness. The Most Sentimental Man by Evelyn E. Smith journeys into humanity’s colonial future, where regulations and official duties collide with one man’s determination to do something others cannot understand. From murder beneath alien-filled skies to the freedom of flight and survival after invasion, Lost Sci-Fi Books 161 thru 165 delivers five distinctive journeys into the imagination of classic science fiction.

About Isaac Asimov

Isaac Asimov began writing his Foundation series at the age of twenty-one, not realizing that it would one day be considered a cornerstone of science fiction. During his legendary career, Asimov penned over 470 books on subjects ranging from science to Shakespeare to history, though he was most loved for his award-winning science fiction sagas, which include the Robot, Empire, and Foundation series. Named "Grand Master of Science Fiction" by the Science Fiction Writers of America, Asimov entertained and educated readers of all ages for close to five decades. He died, at the age of seventy-two, in April 1992.
