Louise Hawes is a teacher and the author of more than a dozen novels for readers of all ages. She has served as Writer in Residence at the University of New Mexico and the Women’s University of Mississippi. She was also a John Grisham Visiting Writer at the University of Mississippi. Louise helped found the MFA program in Writing for Children & Young Adults at the Vermont College of Fine Arts and currently teaches there. She researched much of this book “on the road” in her home state of North Carolina and reports that, at 5’2”, climbing in and out of eighteen-wheelers is a great workout! Jesse Vilinsky is a classically trained actress and voice actor, having graduated from the USC School of Dramatic Arts and BADA in London. She has lent her voice to numerous film and television projects and has worked on various video games, animation, and commercial projects as well. As a narrator, Jesse has garnered recognition in AudioFile magazine for her expertly voiced characters and ability to bring forth the strength and truth of their stories.
