Synopsis

The fifth book in the bestselling Chronicles of St Mary's series which follows a group of tea-soaked disaster magnets as they hurtle their way around History. If you love Jasper Fforde or Ben Aaronovitch, you won't be able to resist Jodi Taylor.

A Fete Worse Than Death...

The St Mary's Institute of Historical Research has finally recovered from its wounds and it's business as usual for those rascals in the History Department.

From being trapped in the Great Fire of London to an unfortunately timed comfort break at Thermopylae, which leaves the fate of the western world hanging in the balance, Max must struggle to get History back on track.

But first, they must get through the St Mary's Fete - which is sure to end badly for everyone.

Only one thing is certain, life at St Mary's is never dull!

About Jodi Taylor

LOSE TRACK OF TIME IN THE WORLD OF JODI TAYLORJodi Taylor is the internationally bestselling author of over twenty-five novels and more short stories that you can shake a stick at.Her Chronicles of St Mary's series follows a bunch of disaster-prone individuals who investigate major historical events in contemporary time. Do NOT call it time travel! She is also the author of the Time Police books. Set in the same world as St Mary's, this spinoff charts the highs and lows of an all-powerful, international organisation tasked with keeping the Timeline straight no matter what the cost. Efficient and disciplined, obviously they're nothing like St Mary's. Except when they are.In 2024, The Ballad of Smallhope and Pennyroyal accidentally grew from a short story to a full-length novel, revealing the origin story of two beloved characters who feature in both series.Jodi is also known for her gripping supernatural thrillers featuring the mysterious Elizabeth Cage together with the enchanting Frogmorton Farm series - a fairy story for adults.Born in Bristol and now living in Gloucester (facts both cities vigorously deny), she spent many years with her head somewhere else, much to the dismay of family, teachers and employers, before finally deciding to put all that daydreaming to good use and write a book.

*** 4.35 *** I really enjoyed this one! I like the tone of the St. Mary's 2.0 much better, mostly because there are no ridiculous manufactured drama between Max and Leon. The drama of their travel through time is enough to keep you interested and since the author has proven that she is not afraid to......more

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Another St Mary’s adventure, and this time we have everything from a ghost, the 1666 burning of St Paul’s with devastating results, an epic boat race and the battle of Thermopylae. As usual, it’s a mad dash rollercoaster of an adventur......more
