Synopsis

In Ava’s dreams, her son, Noah, looks just the way she remembers him: a sweet two-year-old in rolled-up jeans and a red sweatshirt. When Ava wakes, the agonizing truth hits her all over again. Noah went missing two years ago, and his body has never been found. Almost everyone, including Ava’s semi-estranged husband, Wyatt, assumes the boy drowned after falling off the dock near their Church Island home. Ava has spent most of the past two years in and out of Seattle mental institutions, shattered by grief and unable to recall the details of Noah’s disappearance. Now she’s back at Neptune’s Gate, the family estate she once intended to restore to its former grandeur. Slowly, her strength is returning. But as Ava’s mind comes back into focus, her suspicions grow. Despite their apparent concern, Ava can’t shake the feeling that her family, and her psychologist, know more than they’re saying. But are they really worried for her well-being — or anxious about what she might discover? Unwilling to trust those around her, Ava secretly visits a hypnotist to try and restore her memories. But the strange visions and night terrors keep getting worse. Ava is sure she’s heard Noah crying in the nursery, and glimpsed him walking near the dock. Is she losing her mind, or is Noah still alive? Ava won’t stop until she gets answers, but the truth is more dangerous than she can imagine. And the price may be more than she ever thought to pay…

About Lisa Jackson

Born in Oregon in 1952, American author, Lisa Jackson, began her career in 1983 with her book, The Twist of Fate, and is still presently writing. She is a number one author on The New York Times bestselling list, writing more than 85 published novels. (She also uses the pseudonym of Susan Lynn Crose.)

As with many authors, Lisa began writing when she was a struggling mother, out of necessity to put food on the table. At that time, she probably did not realize that she would end up with a writing career putting her neck deep in romantic, murder mysteries. Lisa is best known for taking her readers to "the edge of sanity...... and back". Dangerous secrets, deadly passions, lies, clues, personal relationships.......all intertwined to create the terror and madness that can exist in the world.

Lisa is now a typical spoiling grandmother who loves her grandchildren and her little pug dog named Jackie-O-No. She loves old rock and roll, pop, and new country music. She leads a pretty quiet, fulfilling life in her native state of Oregon.......time with family, walks with her sister (also an author), coffee, crossword puzzles and great TV.

This was really tedious. It was like a movie chase scene shot in San Francisco. It was simply exhausting and not really enjoyable nor satisfying. In the beginning everybody was suspect because, well frankly, they were all Looney Tunes - pretty much reminiscent of the Addams Family. And then, just lik......more

This is the best Lisa Jackson book I have read in a long while. I have to admit, I got sick of her constant serial killer angle and the growing gruesomeness within her books. I was thrilled that this book kept the serial killer angle at an absolute minimum, and instead focused on a rather old fashio......more

I put this book on hold and my local library because the description piqued my interest. Once I got the book in hand, my interested waned. Why? First, there were way too many characters introduced, several of which were only mentioned but had no dialogue. You knew Immediately that the rescuer and th......more
