Synopsis

“Welcome To Parkview” reads the sign on the outskirts of town. You glance up at the invitation and wonder if getting on the inbound bus is a wise idea. Little do you know that this is a town built on deceit, soulless transients and restless ghosts, infidelity and temptation, and murderers that have no discrimination to the lovers pleading their final vows. Even vampires lurk in the shadows without you having the slightest warning. You peer through the grimy window at the heart of the town as the bus turns each corner of these streets. The façade is peeled back just enough for you to see past the surface. You catch a glimpse of the darkness that put Parkview on the map. It’s then you realize that nothing is a coincidence. In Parkview, it may be best to keep buried secrets quiet, because even the truth can be a deception.

I felt like a citizen of a well messed up town. i enjoyed establishing relationships with the citizens, being the nosey neighbor with the eyes always peeping and being a budy body. Then, whe......more

Welcome to Parkview by Brian Paone is the most complex modern-day novel I have read. I have my own approach to reviewing a novel and it is completely useless in this case. There are more complex novels; many can be found in the classics, but they are complex for different reasons. There are modern d......more

I marked this as horror, because that's certainly what it's billed as and what it's trying to be. It is pretty blatant about that fact -- the Stephen King references alone get tiresome. But in all honesty, I'm not sure quite how to classify it. I never found it scary, and rarely unsettling. Let me b......more
