Synopsis

About Barbara Boswell

Barbara Boswell is an educator and a literary activist. She is an alumna of the Women's Studies Program at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she lived for several years, and has taught at universities in both the United States and South Africa. An associate professor of English at the University of Cape Town, she teaches Black women's diasporic literature, African feminist literary theory, and gender and sexuality.

The book was challenging to read at times bcs of the struggles the main character and her family face. The book helped give me a window into another life. I’m leaving the book with more wondering about how abuse often creates a pattern and how can it be interrupted.......more
