Synopsis

Happily-ever-after gets a serious makeover in this swoony, non-stop-thrill-ride of a conclusion to the Trouble Is a Friend of Mine trilogy.

“A fast read, with continuous action and nonstop witty banter.”—VOYA

The first time Philip Digby—the brilliant, annoying, and somehow entirely magnetic Digby—showed up on Zoe Webster’s doorstep, he treated her like a book he’d already read and knew the ending to. But before she knew it, he’d dragged her into a series of dangerous, and marginally legal, schemes all related to the futile hunt for his kidnapped sister. A hunt that has haunted him for years.

Now, a year later, Digby’s got a new lead. Sure, it could require breaking into a secret government research facility (not to mention a little light treason), and yes, Zoe could be jeopardizing her Ivy League future. But dating Digby was never going to be short on danger, and when it comes to Digby, forget the acerbic banter, steamy chemistry, and no small amount of sarcasm; it’s all about giving him the closure he so desperately needs.

But what if that closure comes with a twist neither expects?

1/28/18 MAN, that was super satisfying. I don't think anything will ever live up to the perfection of the first book, but Trouble Never Sleeps certainly gave the Trouble trilogy a high note to go out on. I'm gonna miss the ragtag River Heights crew! Full review to come closer to release. 8/2/17 I need......more

This book was as messy, wild, emotional, and laugh out loud funny as I wanted it to be. The pop culture banter, crazy circumstances, and unpredictability of it all makes this the perfect conclusion to the series. But, like, possibly not conclusion? The ending has a couple of loose threads that make......more

TOTAL READING TIME: 2 hours, 59 minutes. I looooved the first two books of this trilogy, Trouble is a Friend of Mine especially. I just wanted Zoe and Digby to get to the bottom of Sally Digby's disappearance 9 years before the events of the books, and I was so excited when the last book was finally......more

"Fast-talking, suit-wearing Digby is an exasperating teenage Sherlock—sharply observant, impatient with social niceties, and unafraid of authority figures. . . . Fans of Veronica Mars and Elementary will find much to like here . . . Zoe's sarcastic first-person narration is fresh and funny . . . an offbeat and entertaining caper."—Kirkus

"An engrossing and satisfying read . . . Hand this one out along with a Chandler or Hammett classic and the first season of Veronica Mars."—BCCB, starred review

"A fast-paced story. . . . Readers will find a sharply drawn character in the irrepressible Zoe, who's as dubious about Digby's methods as she is curious about whether or not she can live up to his daredevilry."—SLJ

"With acerbic banter and a healthy dose of high-school high jinks, screenwriter Tromly weaves together traditional elements of teen stories to create a Breakfast Club for a new century."—Booklist
