Synopsis

For years, Alex Weston has plied his trade at Lavender Hills, an all-male brothel catering to London’s most fashionable women. His beauty and sexual prowess are legendary, yet his charmed life masks an ugly truth. Alex is a prisoner in a gilded cage, blackmailed into service and desiring only freedom—until the night she walks through his door…Grace Brisbane is desperate. Her dying mother needs medicine she cannot afford, and her dissolute stepbrother is gambling away what little money remains. Her only hope of saving her family is to marry the Earl of Rodrick, her brother’s wealthy best friend. There’s just one problem: Rodrick has no interest in virgins. To win him, Grace must learn the secrets of seduction. Secrets Alex knows all too well…It should be a simple business transaction. And yet with a single kiss, Grace ignites a passion unlike any Alex has ever known…and unlike any she could ever imagine. They are not free to love—but their hearts will accept nothing less.

About Lori Brighton

As a child, Lori Brighton relished the thought of a life filled with adventure in far-off places. Determined to become an archaeologist, she earned a degree in anthropology—only to discover that digging in the dirt beneath the punishing sun wasn’t much fun. She packed up her love of history and took a job in an air-conditioned museum, yet still her thirst for adventure wasn’t satisfied. And so she began to write, bringing the people in her imagination to life on the printed page. With her debut novel Wild Heart, she finally married her loves of history and adventure. Today she is the author of more than a half-dozen historical romance, paranormal romance, and young-adult novels.

I loved this book. Couldn't put it down until I finished it -loved it. The hero is a prostitute and the context of the brothel is a bit bizarre. I liked the tropes (tortured hero, male prostitute, destitute heroine, seemingly impossible relationship up until the end) and the distinctive voice. I didn't like the typos, awkward sentences. Also, though the sexual attraction felt strong, the actual romance felt lacking (mostly told, not shown, a......more

This is a book that I would normally love. The description hits all right right notes: guy trapped in brothel wants to be free, girl wants to net her an earl but needs some seduction lessons, the two meet=insta lust, craziness results. Sounds awesome! Role reversal books are some of my favorites and......more

I picked up this book, because I usually enjoy stories featuring different types of heroes and in this novel, the hero Alex is a prostitute. Unfortunately, Alex is filled with such loathing for himself and his profession that at times it made the story unenjoyable and made me wonder how he could fun......more
