The Soundtrack of Their Lives
A Dysfunctional Family Saga

The Bell family plays and sings music louder than the bombs that dropped in Hull during WWII and falls into the hearts of historical readers. What happens to a young couple when the first flush of love fades? Alice and Amos Bell marry in 1925, when flappers and jazz prosper. But their struggles increase with the depression and then the WWII years. Amos Bell must deal with stormy relationships with his children, his wife, and her sister Bunty, who are ardent suffragists and live by their rule. While their world overflows with shows, music, and swing dancing, Alice’s illness plus Amos’ infidelity, drama explodes, with the German bombs dropping on Yorkshire being the least of their troubles
