Mary Balogh is the New York Times bestselling author of the acclaimed Slightly novels: Slightly Married, Slightly Wicked, Slightly Scandalous, Slightly Tempted, Slightly Sinful, and Slightly Dangerous, as well as the romances No Man's Mistress, More than a Mistress, and One Night for Love. She is also the author of Simply Love, Simply Unforgettable, Simply Magic, and Simply Perfect, her dazzling quartet of novels set at Miss Martin's School for Girls. A former teacher herself, she grew up in Wales and now lives in Canada.
Really enjoyed this first book, but book2, The Arrangement, is even better and features these characters again prominently. Book 3, The Escape wont be available until next year, but Ill be impatiently waiting for Bens story. Hopefully, well get 7 books since there are 7 members in the Survivors Club. Course the one female member might get matched with one of the remaining 4, but which? At least she seems to have started with the most dramatic 3, so Im happy either way.
3 Meh Stars The Proposal was my first Mary Balogh book, and it was just okay for me. The first half went very slow. I found myself very bored at times. The second half was much better, but still kinda slow. I really liked Gwen. I found her to be sweet, smart, and loyal. Hugo on the other hand wa......more

First, Balogh transplants some modern sensibilities into the Regency era, but does so in consistent enough way......more
This is a series about a group of Napoleonic Wars survivors. It’s a support group before support groups were a thing and this part worked very well for me. Both the hero and the heroine went through a lot. They are not pretending that everything is fine but they are also not allowing the scars to de......more
3.5 stars This felt strangely dispassionate in its passion. Maybe too stiff upper lip for me? Not sure but I really started to enjoy the couple more towards the end when they began to warm up to each other, teasing and being a little feisty. Definitely keeping on with the series. Thank you to all tha......more
