Synopsis

Understand where we came from.Whether you’re an avid student of the Bible or a skeptic of its relevance, The Book That Made Your World will transform your perception of its influence on virtually every facet of Western civilization.Indian philosopher Vishal Mangalwadi reveals the personal motivation that fueled his own study of the Bible and systematically illustrates how its precepts became the framework for societal structure throughout the last millennium. From politics and science, to academia and technology, the Bible’s sacred copy became the key that unlocked the Western mind.Through Mangalwadi’s wide-ranging and fascinating investigation, you’ll discover: what triggered the West’s passion for scientific, medical, and technological advancement;how the biblical notion of human dignity informs the West’s social structure and how it intersects with other worldviews;how the Bible created a fertile ground for women to find social and economic empowerment;how the Bible has uniquely equipped the West to cultivate compassion, human rights, prosperity, and strong families;the role of the Bible in the transformation of education; andhow the modern literary notion of a hero has been shaped by the Bible’s archetypal protagonist.Journey with Mangalwadi as he examines the origins of a civilization’s greatness and the misguided beliefs that threaten to unravel its progress. Learn how the Bible transformed the social, political, and religious institutions that have sustained Western culture for the past millennium, and discover how secular corruption endangers the stability and longevity of Western civilization.

About Vishal Mangalwadi

Vishal Mangalwadi, LLD, was born and raised in India where he studied philosophy in secular universities and Hindu ashrams. After studying in Swiss L’Abri for six months, he returned to India to serve the rural poor through several creative projects. This frontline engagement with oppression and corruption sent him to jail, helped prevent the revival of widow-burning, and led to politically organizing peasants and lower-caste “untouchables.” A dynamic and engaging speaker, Vishal has lectured in thirty-five countries and authored fourteen books. Christianity Today calls him “India’s foremost Christian intellectual.”

Most Christians (and even many unbelievers) acknowledge that to some extent, the Bible has shaped our western civilisation. What we don't know--and can barely begin to imagine--is just how profound that influence has been, reaching to how many areas of life that we simply take for granted. Vishal Man......more

I found this book fascinating! Of course the Western world is crumbling down, the Book that made it, it’s cornerstone, has been removed from the heart of its people, it’s homes and churches , and the public square. May God bring us back to His Word! If you don’t know where to start reading your Bible......more

A Christian’s View on Europe’s Success 1 January 2022 - Adelaide It seemed that the reason that Western Europe developed the way it did while the rest of the world didn’t had been settled by Jared Diamond by simply saying it was ‘Gun, Germs, and Steel’, but Mangalwadi sort of disagrees. Then again, M......more
