The Angry Tide is the seventh audiobook in Winston Graham's classic Poldark saga, now a major TV series from Masterpiece on PBS. This riveting audiobook will appeal to fans of historical fiction everywhere.

Cornwall, towards the end of the 18th century. Ross Poldark sits for the borough of Truro as Member of Parliament - his time divided between London and Cornwall, his heart divided about his wife, Demelza.

His old feud with George Warleggan still flares - as does the illicit love between Morwenna and Drake, Demelza's brother.

Before the new century dawns, George and Ross will be drawn together by a loss greater than their rivalry - and Morwenna and Drake by a tragedy that brings them hope . . . .

And with the new century comes much change in the shocking seventh installment of Winston Graham's Poldark series, The Angry Tide.

"Life was such a gamble, and the safest, sturdiest man existed on such a tightrope of circumstance that the merest vibration could throw him. We lived, belonged, felt solidly based, important in the world – and then, flick, and we were nothing." The Angry Tide was another splendid chapter in the Pold......more

In this 7th novel (of a 12-book series), I was pleasantly surprised to find that the fast pace and high energy of this series has not flagged one iota. I found myself thoroughly involved in this portion of the Poldark saga. This novel takes place in 1798-1799 in Cornwall 14 years after Ross and Demel......more

5 STARS [image error] ”Seeking perfection, Ross …in life it’s dangerous, for it makes the less than perfect seem less than enough.” Here I am yet again, at the end of another chapter in the life of Ross Poldark. Tears again flowing freely, lump in throat. I must say that this was the mo......more

Actual review: 4.5 “Perhaps one aspect of arrogance lies in not being willing to accept what life sometimes expects one to accept.” The Angry Tide is the seventh book in the Poldark series written by Winston Graham, and I must say, it was another great addition to a series that is complex and hear......more

Quotes

"Narrator Oliver Hembrough enhances Winston Graham's stellar writing in this seventh installment of a 12-part series...Hembrough effectively delivers the vivid descriptions of Poldark's two different lives, one in cosmopolitan London and the other in Truro, where the peace of the countryside is a welcome change for him. ... embrough's skill at building suspense will terrify listeners...In contrast, a heartbreaking love letter and the recipient's prayers to God will bring tears."
