this book was written in verse but not so poetic that the plot was lost in translation. the love between these two characters was so wholesome yet mature that you would think they were adults. I think this was so well written + will definitely be reading more by Walter Dean Myers.......more

In the beginning of the book it displays the dislike between Sledge and Damien. Damien is someone who came above the street life and works hard in school. He was accepted into Brown University.
