Synopsis

Tionna’s on-and-off addicted mother has always taught her to get hers by any means necessary. Tionna’s heart is cold, but she holds a warm place in it for Duhan, the father of her two sons and her on-again-off-again boyfriend since they were teenagers. Duhan becomes her knight in shining armor until the government turns their dream into a nightmare. With Duhan behind bars and everything she loves seized, she finds herself starting over in the same neighborhood that she swore she’d never return to. With two kids, a man in prison, and no back-up plan, Tionna is once again living by her wits in order to maintain the lifestyle she’s become so accustomed to. Back in the thick of things with her best friends Gucci, Boots, and Tracy, she finds herself rediscovering her old life and suddenly begins to wonder if she’s really cut out to be a prisoner’s wife.

About Napiera Groves

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Napiera Groves attended the prestigious School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati. She then continued her education at Howard University where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She also had the privilege to study at the distinguished British American Drama Academy at Oxford University in Oxford, England. Napiera's extensive training in theatre, music, and dance quickly paid off, earning her stripes with roles in television, film, and stage. Her beauty, dedication and intelligence propelled her to win the title of Miss District of Columbia USA and eventually, a trip to the Miss USA pageant, where to no one's surprise, she won the Miss Congeniality award. The Miss USA pageant served as a springboard, catapulting her career to many more stage roles and ultimately to the screen. She graced the stage as "Amanda" in Michael Greif's (director of RENT) pop-rock musical, BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY opposite Patrick Wilson, where she received rave reviews all over New York City. The New York Times called her, "a beauty with unmistakable raw talent..a beguiling presence." Napiera has had supporting roles in films such as SACRED with Nas and Isaiah Washington and was also featured in the Warner Brother's film, AIRBORNE with Jack Black and Seth Green and the critically acclaimed dark comedy, REDRUM with Jill Marie Jones. All of which led to her role as haughty heiress, Bonnie McKechnie on the Emmy-award winning, CBS daytime drama, AS THE WORLD TURNS. Lately she's been busy with guest appearances on EVE, THAT 70's SHOW, BOW (pilot), NEW CAR SMELL (pilot), WITHOUT A TRACE, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, ALL OF US, GIRLFRIENDS, 30 ROCK and much more. Section 8 takes place three years after Still Hood, and we are introduced to Animal, Gucci, and The Original Dog Pound members. Section 8 was so good, it felt like I was a part of the book. I recommend reading this before you read the Animal Series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️......more

THE BEST URBAN-FIC I'VE READ IN A LONG, LONG, LONG TIME. This can stand up next to The Coldest Winter Ever and I do NOT say that often, if ever. K'wan totally proved himself as a power-player with this one. I'm going to a K.D. Harris signing this week and I'm buying every single one of K'wan's books......more

This was a GREAT read. It deserves more than 5 stars and every literary honor that exists! Following the tradition of the series, we are introduced to another group of Hoodrats and another ensemble of diverse and personable characters. Tionna is a young single mother that suffered a fall from grace......more

3.5 rating. This was a book club read. K'wan's writing has definitely improved from Book 1 and 2 of this series. I look forward to reading Animal. I marked my rating down to 3.5 (probably should go lower) because of a very graphic rape scene. I felt the word choices made during this scene made it ev......more
