Synopsis

Lost Sci-Fi Books 306 thru 310 brings together five imaginative science fiction stories from some of the genre’s most celebrated writers, exploring worlds where machines inherit the future, mysteries wait beneath the ocean, reality itself becomes uncertain, and the impossible refuses to obey the rules. In The Last Evolution by John W. Campbell, humanity faces an enemy so powerful that survival may depend on the very machines mankind created. Undersea Guardians by Ray Bradbury descends beneath the waves for an unusual encounter where danger and discovery arrive from an unexpected direction. Henry Kuttner’s Beyond Annihilation pushes beyond familiar boundaries into a strange confrontation with forces that challenge ordinary ideas of existence. The Unseen Blushers by Alfred Bester delivers the inventive imagination and sharp wit that made Bester one of science fiction’s most distinctive voices. Then Lester Del Rey closes the collection with Absolutely No Paradox, a clever story that plays with time and the assumptions we make about what can—and cannot—happen.John W. Campbell, Ray Bradbury, Henry Kuttner, Alfred Bester, and Lester Del Rey helped shape generations of speculative fiction, each bringing a remarkably different voice to the genre. Together, these five stories offer machines, strange discoveries, startling ideas, and unexpected turns from writers whose influence can still be felt throughout science fiction today.Five stories. Five legendary authors. Another journey into the imaginative worlds of vintage science fiction with Lost Sci-Fi Books 306 thru 310.

About Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) was an American novelist, short story writer, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, and poet. He became a full-time writer in 1943 and contributed numerous short stories to periodicals before publishing a collection of them, Dark Carnival, in 1947.
His reputation as a writer of courage and vision was established with the publication of The Martian Chronicles in 1950, which describes Earthlings' first attempts to conquer and colonize Mars and the unintended consequences. Next came The Illustrated Man and Fahrenheit 451, which many consider to be Bradbury's masterpiece. Other works by Bradbury include The October Country, Dandelion Wine, A Medicine for Melancholy, Something Wicked This Way Comes, I Sing the Body Electric! Quicker Than the Eye, and Driving Blind. In all, Bradbury published more than thirty books and close to six hundred short stories. He has been awarded the O. Henry Memorial Award, the Benjamin Franklin Award, the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Grand Master Award from the Science Fiction Writers of America, and the PEN Center USA West Lifetime Achievement Award, among others.
