Synopsis

Lost Sci-Fi Books 26 thru 30 brings together five wonderfully strange tales where an innocent gift can turn deadly, getting home from space can be more dangerous than leaving, and a struggling writer discovers the ultimate shortcut to success.Beyond The Door by Philip K. Dick — Larry Thomas buys his wife a cuckoo clock, never imagining that something inside it may be watching the people outside. Before long, this ordinary household gift becomes anything but ordinary.Shipping Clerk by William Morrison — Ollie has a job to do, but there’s one rather serious problem: he doesn’t really understand what he’s doing. By the time he discovers the truth, simply quitting may no longer be an option.Spoken For by William Morrison — She can tell immediately that the stranger is lost. What she doesn’t realize is just how far from home he really is—or what his unexpected arrival could mean.Pariah by Milton Lesser — After three years in space, Harry is finally coming home to Earth and the family he’s dreamed about seeing again. They’re waiting for him, all right—but they expect him to arrive as a corpse. The Plagiarist From Rigel IV by Evan Hunter — Writing is hard work until Fred gets his hands on “Reggie,” a typewriter capable of producing stories all by itself. It sounds like every writer’s dream, until Fred discovers where those stories might actually be coming from.Deadly surprises, dark humor, bizarre technology and visitors from far beyond Earth make Lost Sci-Fi Books 26 thru 30 another unpredictable journey into the wonderfully weird imagination of vintage science fiction.

About Philip K. Dick

Over a writing career that spanned three decades, PHILIP K. DICK (1928–1982) published 36 science fiction novels and 121 short stories in which he explored the essence of what makes man human and the dangers of centralized power. Toward the end of his life, his work turned to deeply personal, metaphysical questions concerning the nature of God. Eleven novels and short stories have been adapted to film, notably Blade Runner (based on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?), Total Recall, Minority Report, and A Scanner Darkly, as well as television's The Man in the High Castle. The recipient of critical acclaim and numerous awards throughout his career, including the Hugo and John W. Campbell awards, Dick was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2005, and between 2007 and 2009, the Library of America published a selection of his novels in three volumes. His work has been translated into more than twenty-five languages.
