Synopsis

The psychic abilities of most humans are dampened by the clatter of our conscious minds. In this timely book, Russell Targ shows listeners how to quiet this noise and see into the far reaches of time and space through remote viewing. He also illuminates the phenomena of intuitive medical diagnosis and distant healing in a groundbreaking synthesis of research and empirical data. Drawing on a broad range of spiritual traditions, Targ demonstrates that these psychic abilities offer a path of self-inquiry and self-realization and have the power to expand each person's limited awareness into the consciousness shared by all beings. Targ explores the scientific and spiritual implications of remote viewing, as well as offering practical techniques and exercises to nurture this universally available but often untapped skill.

About Russell Targ

Russell Targ is a physicist and author, and was a pioneer in the development of the laser and laser applications. He holds a BS in physics from Queens College, and did graduate work in physics at Columbia University. In the 1970s and 1980s, Targ cofounded and worked for the CIA-sponsored Stanford Research Institute's investigation into psychic abilities. His work in this new area, called remote viewing, was published in Nature, The Proceedings of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and in Proceedings of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 1983 and 1984, he accepted invitations to present remote viewing demonstrations and address the USSR Academy of Sciences on this research. In 1997, Targ retired from Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space Co. as a senior staff scientist, where he developed airborne laser systems for the detection of windshear. Targ now teaches remote viewing workshops worldwide and continues to write. He is the author or coauthor of several books dealing with the scientific investigation of psychic abilities, including The Reality of ESP, Limitless Mind: A Guide to Remote Viewing, Transformation of Consciousness, and his autobiography Do You See What I See?: Memoirs of a Blind Biker. Targ is also an editor, publisher, songwriter, producer, and teacher. He lives in Palo Alto, California, with his wife, Patricia.

Russell Targ is one of the founding members of the Stanford Research Institute's studies of psychic phenomena. He worked with Hal Puthoff and Ingo Swann to develop the remote viewing protocols for the CIA. Remote viewing, though lambasted in popular culture in such films as "Men who Stare at Goats,"......more

Eye opener. Not just a book on Remote Viewing but one that is also grounded in science and spirituality. Chapter One & Seven is particularly illuminating. Being a physicist his claims are backed with scientific rigour and theories of how psychical mind might actually work is related back to Quantum......more

Targ is a fascinating scientist, but he skims along the surface of a great number of psi topics, without getting very deeply into any of them. I'd expected a comprehensive look at his remote viewing work, and got anecdotes but nothing substantive.......more
