Synopsis

I’ve lost it. :( The only thing in the world I wasn’t supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It’s been in Magnus’s family for three generations. And now the very same day his parents are coming, I’ve lost it. The very same day! Do not hyperventilate, Poppy. Stay positive :) !!

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

From the Hardcover edition.

Author Bio

I think I could have written a series of books on being a Shopaholic, but British author Sophie Kinsella had beat me to it. In 2000, she had her big hit novel, the first in the Shopaholic series.....The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic. The great irony is that the book's main character is Becky Bloomwood, who is a financial journalist who should be giving sensible money spending and saving advice. However, she loves to shop, and is hopeless with money! It struck a nerve with many readers around the world. The other books in the series are: Shopaholic Abroad (Shopaholic Takes Manhattan), Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic and Sister, Shopaholic and Baby, Mini Shopaholic, Shopaholic to the Stars, and Shopaholic to the Rescue. Her first novel in the series was produced as a movie by Disney as, Confessions
of a Shopaholic.

Other books she has written include: Can You Keep a Secret?, The Undomestic Goddess, Remember Me?, Twenties Girl, I've Got Your Number, Wedding Night, My Not So Perfect Life, and Surprise Me. Her latest work is I Owe You, which is described as being empowering.

Sophie lives in London with her husband, Henry Wickham, four sons and a daughter.

This is the best book I have read all summer 2013 and I have read some good ones including a few Regency romances I rented through booksfree.com. This is also one of the best book I have read all year. I am very picky about romance and chick lit and find most of them stereotypical and silly and not much worth the time it took to read them. The reason I loved this book is because it was so hilarious and I love the characters. Poppy Wyatt is so real and I could really identify with her situation with both Sam and her fiance Magnus. The jewelry store scene was so freakin. funny I still laugh about it! The scrabble game, Willow.... I could go on and on! i didnt want it to end. I really liked the Shopaholic series but this stand alone is absolutely the best and on a whole new level. Dare i say it has footnotes? Dont worry they are a great part of the books charm. It celebrates love and romance in the modern age of cell phones and testing communication. If you like this genre you MUST read this book!

Poppy is definitely daffy, but I dont see any charm in her or any of the other charactersNobody in this story is at all likable to me. Maybe its because Im the only person left in the country who doesnt understand the appeal of cell phone addiction. Granted, its believable, since I see it all around me, but I still dont understand it.
