Only reason this book got only 3 stars is because I dont care for short stories. I did enjoy seeing what 4 different authors did with the same plot. As Balogh is a favorite of mine, I was disappointed to see by the index that her version was the shortest. Still, I wasnt shocked to find that her story was my top pick despite being a measly 85 pages long. I confess the other 3 ladies stories were all good, too even if H/hs were getting a little muddled in my mind by the end.

The common theme was the younger brother, a war veteran, is told he needs to get married and begot sons because the older titled brother has only produced girls and they can't afford to have some reckless relative to inherit the title. I liked the first one the most.......more

Mostly, I remember thinking it would work a lot better if it were longer. Oh, and I'm not a fan of pining......more
