Synopsis

How to Train Your Dragon meets Skandar and the Unicorn Thief as a brother and sister go to a summer camp aimed at future dragon riders in this first book in the high-flying middle grade adventure series Dragon Force.

Twelve-year-old Lance Lo dreams becoming part of the Dragon Force, a team of heart-bonded humans and dragons dedicated to protecting the world from dangerous magical creatures. So he can’t wait to attend Camp Claw with his younger sister, Zoe, and begin learning about dragon training.

But Lance quickly finds himself falling behind in the lessons and activities. He’s the only camper who’s failed to achieve a heart-bond with a dragon, and with Zoe impressing everyone with her natural ability, Lance struggles with jealousy.

But when Camp Claw is mysteriously attacked in the dead of night, Lance has to level up—in spirit and in skill—because it’s up to him and the latest recruits to get to the root of the growing danger and prove they’ve got what it takes to save the day.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review 3 stars Just want to explain real fast, I know this was middle grade, but I was not prepared for this to be on the low-low end of that scale. Which is nothing against it. I think this would be great for a young a......more

I hope I am not alone in my love of dragons and that there are lots of readers out there, maybe you are one of them, who love them too. They are such majestic, dominant, scary, and yet graceful and protective creatures what is there not to love about them? Of course, they come in a rainbow of colour......more

This is a hugely imaginative and fun adventure. The central premise of the story is around the life-long heart-bond that dragons have with some humans which, once formed, releases and enhances their own hidden magical gifts (for both human and dragon). Who wouldn't love to form that special bond wit......more
