In addition, he is the Interim Director for the Center on Aging at CSUSB, which seeks to understand the concerns and enhance the wellbeing of older people. He has made more than 100 professional presentations and published approximately 50 peer-reviewed articles, 10 book chapters, and four books in his field of specialization. Professor Shultz was also recently the recipient of his university's prestigious Outstanding Professor Award.
