I didn't know until lately that this is the sequel to Streams of Babel. This novel stands by itself, but for greater interest you probably should read the first. Didn't read 1st book, but still very good, June 2, 2012 I received this book from a friend. Upfront, I'll just say I didn't read the first book in the series. Not intentional.
