Synopsis

Are you at a threshold where what used to feel good or what used to make sense doesn’t anymore?

Do you desire a deeper, more embodied relationship with your sexuality?

Kimberly Ann Johnson has rallied support for women transitioning to motherhood in The Fourth Trimester. Now she brings eroticism to the center of our power for every life stage.

“Every woman I’ve worked with has told me that they know their sexuality holds treasures for them, keys to their soul path, but they just can’t seem to find those keys to reliably unlock the treasure chest,” writes Kimberly Ann Johnson, sexological bodyworker and Somatic Experiencing practitioner. Erotic Seasons helps women find the keys to that chest.

Women experience so many crossroads at the different stages in our lives―these might include beginning a relationship, navigating fertility, becoming a mother or not, entering in perimenopause or menopause, leaving a marriage or opening a marriage. At these thresholds, our desires can become mysterious. Of course they do when our bodies and pleasure pathways change. Most of us don’t have the language or experience to communicate about these changes, so we are left feeling confused, shut down, or broken. But we can have courage together to learn and voice our true desires.

Erotic Seasons guides women toward a revolutionary reckoning with sexuality. Grounded in understanding the female body in our monthly, seasonal, and lifetime rhythms, the book guides readers to locate themselves in their own anatomy and nervous system patterns. Kimberly reframes the archetypes of the female lifespan―maiden, mother, virgin, crone―for women today and shares powerful stories of women across generations, helping readers orient to the realities and mysteries of each life stage. With this knowledge, women can experience eroticism that lights up their whole life and unlocks possibilities for us all.

“Kimberly Ann Johnson writes like a wise woman sitting across from you at the fire—honest, grounded, and full of hard-won, studied and trustable wisdom.”—Alexandra Roxo, author of F*ck Like a Goddess and Dare to Feel

Quotes

Praise for Erotic Seasons

“Kimberly Johnson offers women the rarest gift—permission to meet our erotic selves without shame, performance, or someone else's script. Johnson refuses to pathologize female bodies and seasons, revealing instead that our cyclical nature is elemental power. Her work is both invitation and reclamation, a way back to the succulent fierce intelligence of your own body and the wholeness that has always been yours,”—Octavia F. Raheem, founder of Pause, Rest, Lead® School of Sacred Studies, author of Rest Is Sacred and Pause, Rest, Be

“Kimberly Ann Johnson writes like a wise woman sitting across from you at the fire—honest, grounded, and full of hard-won, studied and trustable wisdom. Equal parts raw storytelling and practical guidance, this book makes the mystery of our feminine erotic cycles feel less lonely, more livable, and empowering to body and soul.”—Alexandra Roxo, author of F*ck Like a Goddess and Dare to Feel

“Intimate and generous, this essential guidebook to the ever-changing landscapes of our bodies helps us rediscover our own true inner desires—and the radically healing possibilities of touch and pleasure. This is the medicine for these times.”—Perdita Finn, author of Mothers of Magic

“To truly know ourselves is an intimate exploration. Kimberly Ann Johnson invites us to leave no part of ourselves abandoned or forgotten. As a woman embracing the wisdom of the Crone, I found the practices and personal stories shared in Erotic Seasons to be the fierce medicine needed to awaken and reclaim the fullness of who we are.”—Tracee Stanley, author of Living Ritual and Radiant Rest

“I wish Kimberly Ann Johnson had been my sex-ed teacher. I wish she could be everyone’s sex-ed teacher. To read her writing and be inside her perspective is so gloriously grounding, I feel like I just received the orientation to being a human woman I didn’t know I profoundly needed. No one ever taught me about aging, just like no one ever really taught me about sex. I loved linking the two as she does in this book to understand what has been and what’s to come in life.”—Ranier Wood, Vulveré

"Erotic Seasons is clearly written from a place of experience, heart-centered observation and humility, yet has a beautiful ability to speak directly to the tender truth that very few books dare to address—women have (and, quite frankly, are) the seasons. If you want an honest, truthful read that will have you exhaling in recognition, moved in unexpected ways, and curious about what new, mysterious erotic doors you yourself can open...this book is for you."—Madelyn Moon, author of Artist of Love

“In the pages of Erotic Seasons, Kimberly Johnson does not simply describe the creative cycles of our sexuality—she invites us on a journey to feel, taste, and expand our own sacred relationship to our female bodies and ourselves. Erotic Seasons guides us to this intimate connection with our female body before we share it with anyone, and the application of this knowledge is life-altering.”—Tami Lynn Kent, author of Wild Feminine, Wild Creative and Wild Mothering

“Tending the spark of aliveness in the female body is the most rewarding devotional practice of a woman's life. Erotic Seasons is the map—from practical exercises to existential reframes—that we have been waiting for to inspire and guide the specific gifts and challenges of each stage of sexual and sensual embodiment. A must read for every woman of every age!”—Kelly Brogan MD, New York Times bestselling author of A Mind of Your Own and The Reclaimed Woman

Erotic Seasons will transport you into an embodied reality that is at once ancient and new. You will remember that your female body is—and always was—its own spiritual path walking our precious seasonal Earth. Quite literally, Kimberly Ann Johnson has returned us to our senses, and in doing so, our incontrovertible power.”—Sil Read, co-author of Mothering & Daughtering, creator of The Soul-Making School

“Finally! A book about women’s most intimate lives that guides with a clear-eye and an open heart. Kimberly Ann Johnson is a true treasure and this book is her opus—the most beautifully written, tenderly shared book about growing up and into ourselves I’ve ever read. I can’t wait to buy a copy for my daughter and every woman I know.”—Bethany Saltman, author of Strange Situation

“Female bodies are in a constant state of evolution, and Erotic Seasons helps us locate what is pleasurable now, and now, or now! Beware: if you dive into Erotic Seasons you are highly likely to have more pleasurable and better sex, with a hefty side benefit of self-acceptance, confidence, and being closer to your deep, unfettered Self.”—Kate Codrington, author of Second Spring

“Our culture delivers the female body to us as a list of problems: Painful periods. Fertility challenges. Menopause as malfunction. Kimberly Ann Johnson refuses this, taking the focus off pathology and putting it on the miraculous and alchemical aspects of women's bodies. What she offers, through embodied practice, is erotic sovereignty: the radical act of knowing what your body is telling you. No matter your phase of life, this book will stir something in you. Practice it—it is a full body experience.”—Ellen Vora, MD, author of The Anatomy of Anxiety and Season of the Witch

“Kimberly Ann Johnson has always been a brave and courageous teacher. Erotic Seasons is a fascinating exploration of the female body, desire, healing, and erotic potential across a lifetime. It’s bold, intimate, and illuminating for anyone curious about the many seasons of womanhood.”—Shelby Stanger, author of Will to Wild

“It’s extremely weird to get older in a female body in contemporary Western culture. Speaking as a retired hot girl—a former ‘maiden,’ in the language of the book—I can say first hand that it often feels like there are two extremes to choose from: Botox and crop tops, or fully retiring from viability as an erotic being. In Erotic Seasons, Kimberly Ann Johnson Johnson draws on the Lordean concept of the erotic and offers an alternative framework to the heteropatriarchal-capitalist understanding of how the body moves through time. In doing so, she presents us with an alternative to the quest to either endlessly preserve our youth or say ‘fuck it, I’m done here.’”—Margo Steines, author of Brutalities
