Synopsis

Washington, DC: Twin brothers are found drowned in a Perspex box, one gagged and strapped to a chair. It’s the latest in a series of cruel and elaborate murders with two things in common: the killer has left a family history chart at each crime scene, and the victims all have a connection to genealogical sleuth Jefferson Tayte.Hoping his insight and expertise will help solve the case, the FBI summon Tayte back to the capital. But as he struggles to crack the clues, the killer strikes again—and again. Tayte is known as the best in the business, but this time he’s up against a genealogical mastermind who always seems to be one step ahead. With the clock ticking and the body count rising, Tayte finds himself racked with guilt, his reputation and career in tatters. The killer is running rings around him; is it only a matter of time before he comes for the ultimate target? This is the sixth book in the Jefferson Tayte Genealogical Mystery series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

About Steve Robinson

Steve Robinson drew upon his own family history for inspiration when he imagined the life and quest of his genealogist hero, Jefferson Tayte. The talented London-based crime writer, who was first published at age sixteen, always wondered about his own maternal grandfather. “He was an American GI billeted in England during the Second World War,” Robinson says. “A few years after the war ended he went back to America, leaving a young family behind, and, to my knowledge, no further contact was made. I traced him to Los Angeles through his 1943 enlistment record and discovered that he was born in Arkansas…”Robinson cites crime-writing and genealogy amongst his hobbies—a passion that is readily apparent in his work. Like many other readers I met Jefferson Tayte in Steve Robinson’s first book – ‘In The Blood’ and found him a thoroughly engaging character, slightly self-deprecating and with a number of quirks that could easily make him English if it wasn’t for the nature of the quirks themselves! (His love of Her......more

I would like to thank Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advance copy of Dying Games, the sixth novel in the series featuring genealogist Jefferson "JT" Tayte. JT is in England with his fiancée, Jean, when he is contacted by the FBI and asked to return to Washington to discuss a death with links to......more
