Synopsis

From the first settlement on Roanoke Island and the birth of Virginia Dare through the revolution that created a new nation and the Civil War that tore it apart, Pamela Jekel weaves a vast, colorful tapestry, bursting with the tempestuous beauty of the land, surging with human drama, peopled with courageous women and bold men whose joys and sorrows forged the triumphant history that is the glory of the Carolinas. Deepwater is the first fragile settlements in an untamed wilderness, Loyalists and rebel colonists, Quakers and abolitionists, and Southerners and Yankees in the turbulent melting pot that became America. Pamela Jekel’s third historic saga in her Southern trilogy, her fourth NY Times bestseller, and a B. Dalton Books and Waldenbooks bestseller, Deepwater has been published in eleven foreign languages.

This was the second time in this same book where the dates didn’t foll......more
