Terry C. Johnston (1947–2001) is recognized as a master of the American historical novel. He was born in 1947 on the plains of Kansas and lived all his life in the American West. Instead of a story, its more of a rambling narrative, a sort of biographical account of fictional mountain men heavy in jargon with pidgeon language thrown into the dialog so thick at times it is difficult to read.
