It's worth noting that this really isn't romance, it's contemporary fiction with some romantic subplots. This was my first outing with Beverly Jenkins' contemporary novels and I would definitely say I prefer her historical romance. Loved this laugh out loud, heart-tugging story! Because I read book # 9 first, it was great to meet these characters knowing how they will evolve by the end of the series.
