Synopsis

Here's the third book in the hilarious Alvin Ho chapter book series, which is a Kirkus Reviews Best Continuing Series.

Alvin Ho back and his worst fear has come true: he has to go camping. What will he do exposed in the wilderness with bears and darkness and . . . pit toilets? Luckily, he’s got his night-vision goggles and water purifying tablets and super-duper heavy-duty flashlight to keep him safe. And he’s got his dad, too.

Lenore Look’s touching, drop-dead-funny chapter book about an Asian-American second grader is perfect for beginning and reluctant listeners alike, and has tons of boy appeal.

About The Author

First, Lenore Look, is afraid of spider babies, scary dreams, creepy old houses, and roller coasters. Second, she's the author of the Ruby Lu series. Ruby Lu, Brave and True was named an ALA-ALSC Notable Children’s Book and Ruby Lu, Empress of Everything, also an ALA-ALSC Notable Children’s Book, was deemed “exuberant” in a School Library Journal starred review and received a Gryphon Honor. The third thing you should know about Lenore is that she lives in New Jersey near a very scary bridge.

The first book in the series is one of my all-time favorite read-alouds for class. The situations Alvin navigates throughout the vignettes are as relatable for kids as they are hilarious. The second book is just as funny, but less relatable. At least half my students had no reference points for the......more
