A Year of Reparations

“Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” With these words from Matthew 5:48, Christ calls every Christian beyond ordinary virtue and into the transforming life of divine charity. One of the greatest signs of this holiness is the willingness to pray, sacrifice, and make reparation not only for oneself, but also for sinners, persecutors, and those who offend God.A Year of Reparations: 365 Days of Penance and Prayer provides a complete year-long spiritual program designed to immerse the soul in this essential work of salvation. Through 365 prayers of reparation, fifty-two examples of saints who offered their lives for sinners, and practical spiritual exercises inspired by the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face of Jesus, Fr. Lawrence Carney III offers readers a disciplined path toward greater holiness, penance, and sacrificial love.Drawing from the Church's theology of atonement, propitiation, vicarious satisfaction, and penance, this comprehensive volume explains both why reparation is necessary and how Catholics can practice it faithfully. It also explores the great devotions associated with reparation—including the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and the Holy Face of Jesus—helping readers transform prayer, fasting, suffering, and works of mercy into offerings for the salvation of souls.
