You've read it as a biblical tale of courage. Experience it anew as a heart-stirring love story. She was a simple girl faced with an impossible choice. He was a magnificent king with a lonely heart. Their love was the divine surprise that changed the course of history. The beloved story of Esther springs to fresh life in this inspired novel that vibrates with mystery, intrigue and romance.
My first impression upon starting this book was that the writing was a bit dry, but once I got past the first chapter or two I was hooked. Overall I really enjoyed this book. Itís a relatively short read and Wolf does take some liberties with the storyline in relation to the Biblical one but she does it very well. It takes place in such a great setting and the characters are well developed and intriguing. Very cool to see the story of Esther from her perspective as well as all the little historical details that Wolf wrote in. The story between Esther and the King is very romantic without becoming mushy not that I have a problem with mushy and I think Wolf did an excellent job of showing more than one side of the coin so to speak. She represented Estherís perspective as well as the Kingís with grace and the end result was brilliant. I hope she writes more like this one soon, it will be at the top of my list.
