William J. Long (1857–1952) was an American writer, naturalist, and minister who lived and worked in Stamford, Connecticut. He spent his summers in the wilderness of Maine and Nova Scotia, and his experiences there were the basis for his many books, which include Ways of Wood Folk, Wilderness Ways, Wood-Folk Comedies, Northern Trails, and Wood Folk at School.
Bobbie Frohman, a third generation Californian, was raised in a large extended family, the niece of cowboys. Early on she developed a deep love of animals, training her dogs to perform with her at dog shows, and as a competitive barrel racer with her beloved horse, Lucky.
Everything about this book is beautiful. It is a great reproduction of the original, including the many illustrations and the text. Not only do we learn about the raccoon and the bear (the “little brother” to the bear), but we also learn much about the woodcock, the lynx, the toad, the bear, the kin......more
Fun stories about watching animals and the amazing things they do. Very observant and entertaining.......more
A great book about wildlife and the amazing things that happen in the wilderness. I heard some insights from this book that compare to what scientists say today about animals as if they had never been said before.......more
Not so great It's okay but not so great I personally don't like it and I would not recommended it for any one......more
