Tessa Hadley is the author of six highly acclaimed novels, including Clever Girl and The Past, as well as three short story collections, most recently Bad Dreams and Other Stories, which won the Edge Hill Short Story Prize. These stories are all stunning. They are exquisitely perfect. Why didn't I enjoy them more? I guess I felt they didn't need to be read, or written. These could have been written in 1980, or 1890.
