Polly Shulman has written for The New York Times, Discover, Newsday, Salon, Slate, Scientific American, Archaeology, and The Village Voice, among others. She edits news stories about fossils, meteors, the ocean, the weather, and the planets for Science magazine. She is an alumna of Hunter College High School, Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics, and Yale University. She grew up in New York City, where she lives with her husband, Andrew Nahem, and their parakeet, Olive.
Julia Whelan grew up in the Pacific Northwest, but currently resides in Los Angeles. She is a former child actor, having appeared in multiple television shows, most notably ABC's Once and Again. After receiving her college degree, she returned to acting and is pursuing a career in the film industry, as well as creative writing. Her audiobook credits include romance, supernatural thrillers, young adult and adult fiction.
I was pretty sure I'd go 4 stars on this one, but finally had to go 3. Such a cool idea! There's a repository, half-museum, half-library, where you can check out everything from Marie Antoinette's wig to the shoes belonging to the Twelve Dancing Princesses. Special students are referred by their teachers to be pages at the repository, and there the fun begins. Sort of.......more
I can't resist books like this. The thought of a library that has magical objects you can actually borrow is amazing.
