Synopsis

He's watched her forever. She's wanted him since the beginning. But the universe isn't going to make this easy . . .

Ryak is a strong, silent, drop dead gorgeous alien warrior, and he doesn't even acknowledge my existence. But when he needs a fake mate, it means he's going to have to choose me.

I'm the only human female not yet attached to a winged alien warrior on this dystopian planet. I'm the only one who can carry off the pretense of being his mate at the gathering of the species where the fate of this world will be decided. The Gryn are expected to send a mated warrior and that's where I come in.

I'm only supposed to pretend to be his mate, and I can't reveal my feelings for him, no matter how close he gets.

He doesn't know my secret. Not that I've been watching him since I arrived on this alien planet. Not that I'd give anything to be his.

My secret is dark and deep. It's about who I was before I was taken from Earth. And it's the reason I can never be his.

Contains mature themes.

About Hattie Jacks

Hattie Jacks is a British author of steamy sci-fi romance. She loves to write about super hot alpha aliens and the feisty human ladies who are not prepared to accept their fate. Unless fate tells them to lose their hearts . . . Hattie is the first to admit that her entire writing machine runs on tea. And cake, preferably together and preferably chocolate fudge (the cake, not the tea). She lives in a small corner of the British Isles with her husband and a striped cat shaped missile called Jimmy.

I enjoyed this book and the basic principles: this life is not all there is, and God is working for our inner, forever good; and we need an eternal perspective so we can be working with Him for our forever good, and His glory. The chapters then apply these principles to different areas of our lives......more

The theological content and sentiment in this book are wonderful. I’m giving it a lower rating because the book could have been 80-100 pages. It was quite repetitive and had too many anecdotes for my taste.......more
