Synopsis

From one of the original masters of romance, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Bertrice Small invites you back to the magical, sensual world of Hetar.

The time of peace is over. After the murder of her husband, Lara—half faerie, half human—must leave the home she has made in the Outlands and follow the destiny that has long called her. Using her brilliant sword and even sharper mind, Lara must journey toward the coast, seeking alliances to protect the future of her land. But when treachery binds her once more in chains, the green-eyed beauty is taken far beyond the world she knows. Only there will she discover that destiny has a mind of its own—and that true passion knows no boundaries.

Contains mature themes.

I think I liked this a bit more than the first book in the series, LARA. In this entry, Lara's destiny calls to her again, telling her it's time to get a move on. Small could fling this girl off a cliff for no apparent plot reason and start telling the book from the poin......more

Great character building. As usual, Ms. Small writes a story that is totally immersive. Like all her books, this se......more

Some events from the first book are referenced but, it’s not confusing. The only part I thought was odd is Lara is very confused by what her destiny is, while her s......more
