Phoebe, a graphic artist in her thirties, has come to loathe her boss. To distract herself from being in her presence, Phoebe turns to her go-to workplace coping strategy: dreaming up sexual fantasies between her and a superior. When she later recounts this practice to her therapist, Phoebe is drawn back through her work history and the various fantasies she has concocted over the years. When she was twenty-five, Phoebe returned to college to finish her undergraduate degree. The workload already shaping her into a night owl, Phoebe decides to take a job as a late-night DJ for the university’s radio station. With one of her Friday night to Saturday morning shifts, Phoebe hosts a band made up of her friends. When her boss skims through Phoebe’s broadcast the next day, she is incensed that Phoebe let the band sing lyrics that disparaged the university president and punishes Phoebe for four weeks off with no pay. Suspecting that her boss won’t be able to replace her on those late nights, Phoebe makes a plan to sneak into the station and fill the dead air with a carefully crafted revenge tale.
