Synopsis

These days, everyone is busy. Advances in technology mean there is more information to sort through than ever. Work hours have increased, but to-do lists are endless - schedules get blown in the first five minutes of the day. You could spend more time “planning” and “prioritizing” your list than actually doing the work! At work and in life, we all just have too much to do! And when you have too much to do, it’s hard to feel productive.

If you can’t do everything, you need to put your time and energy into what will yield the more important results. Laura Stack shows how to hone in on the high-value tasks, protect the time to do them, focus on their execution, and organize your life around the stuff that really matters. Her innovative, step-by-step Productivity Workflow Formula (PWF) allows you to spend less time and achieve greater results than you ever thought possible. We can no longer do more with less – we can’t put in more hours or work harder than we are now – we have to work differently and do less to achieve more.

I thought this book was well-researched and well-argued, and there are some great concrete tips, especially about managing the inflow of documents and email. It will probably change the way I triage email, at least a bit. I also agree that the principal of doing one thing at a time and doing it well......more

Het leest lekker vlot......more

The book offers some good tips, but feels generic. The last chapter touched on lots of other tips such as exercise and sleep, but stops short of saying why. The process is very similar to the David Allen's Getting Things Done methodology. She even references the "Tickler File" that I've only ever see......more

Standard self help book in that most of the info seeems to be common sense. Of course, the advice of hiring someone to help with household chores indicates that the intended audience is also probably well above my income level. Optimistically, one could modify some concepts if you're not in her mid......more

Although there are portions that are out of date, given the move from paper to computer, most of her advice is pretty timeless. She is a strong proponent of “reduce, reduce, reduce” and “say no” and I appreciated her emphasis on getting rid of things before they even arrive on your desk or in your i......more
