Joyce Carol Oates is the author of such national bestsellers as The Falls, Blonde, and We Were the Mulvaneys. This is one of the worst books I have ever tried to read. I am not sure if it was the author's writing style, or simply a bad story. I never got farther than 4 chapters into the book. Although I am an educated person, I found the language overbearing and tedious- way, way too many unconventional words used. I had to keep a dictionary handy. A big thumbs down on this one in my opinion.
