Things My Dad Said follows Ben, a young man who travels to the Alaskan outback to bury the estranged father he never understood. In the isolated town of Tugat, under the looming presence of Denali, he meets the people whose lives his father quietly changed through idioms which he lived. As each stranger shares these unexpected phrases, Ben is forced to confront his long-held anger over the divorce and the man he thought his father was.
This brooding, character-driven story weaves themes of consequence, forgiveness, and unlikely friendship into a rugged northern setting. Surrounded by the wildness of the Last Frontier and the warmth of his father's friends, Ben must decide whether he will hold on to his bitterness or allow a more complicated truth-and a second chance at peace-to take root.
