Okay, that was disappointing! Let me make it clear first that I am totally in support of retellings and adaptations of classics, and it's always fun to read a familiar book with a slightly different take and twists of its own. And Then There Were None is one of my favorite books by Agatha Christie,......more
This is a riveting story of how far one will go to right the wrongs in society. A.Nanci has invited seven people to a private island in Mexico, for the weekend, under the disguise of a gift giveaway of large sums of money. After it is revealed this actually is a memorial service for their lawyer Phi......more
I bought this book after I met Rachel Howzell Hall at the Festival of Books in LA last year. I absolutely loved listening to her talk about her writing process with the other authors at the panel. They All Fall Down has been sitting on my shelf since then and I was finally able to pick it up. Miriam......more

“The twists start from page one and never let up.” James Patterson, #1 New York Times bestselling author
“An intense, feverish novel, with riveting plot twists. The ending is startling, unexpected, but convincing.” Sara Paretsky, New York Times bestselling author
“Hall slips from funny to darkly frightening with elegant ease.” Publishers Weekly
“Narrator Janina Edwards gets the listener’s heart thudding with her dramatic performance of an Agatha Christie-like thriller…Edwards maintains the listener’s rapt attention with her powerful portrayal of a woman in the middle of a nightmare. She expertly navigates this thriller and keeps the listener with her to the end.” AudioFile
“[A] compelling story and a more diverse set of characters than one typically finds in mysteries. The book is a solid recommendation for patrons looking for something after Fred Van Lente’s Ten Dead Comedians.” Booklist
“A devilishly clever mystery…Hall’s writing sizzles and pops. Miriam Macy is unforgettable.” Meg Gardiner, author of Into the Black Nowhere
“Laugh-out-loud funny one minute, bone-chilling and sinister the next, it’s a page-turning exploration of what happens when our shadow selves are allowed to run amok.” Attica Locke, author of Black Water Rising
