Synopsis

A compelling and haunting exploration of the secrets and shadows that can be hidden within a marriage from the New York Times bestselling author of Before and Again.

The easy harmony that exists between three close-knit couples on a charming cul-de-sac in suburban Connecticut is shattered when a beautiful young woman, widowed and unattached, reveals she is pregnant.

Rumors and questions begin spreading about the potential father. One by one, the couples turn inward, taking stock of their marriages and discover weaknesses they had previously ignored. As each wife struggles with this sudden crisis, they discover that they are being forced into making a decision—one that could result in either the strengthening or the dissolution of her marriage.

An ingenious portrait of suspicion and deception, faith and love, Barbara Delinsky’s “adept and compelling exploration of the inner workings of the modern upper-class American family makes for one of her best books” (Booklist).

This book started off slow and I just could not get into it at all. I only read the first 50 pages or so and could not continue to read anymore. If the plot would have progressed just a little quicker, I may have tried to read the rest of the book.

I plucked this audio out of the bag I keep in my car. It’s been in there a while but I figured now was as good a time as any to finally give it a listen. I’ve been on a horror binge lately and needed a bit of a breather from all of the bloodshed. At the midway point, I have to admit, I was hoping for......more

" To you both. May your lives be filled with sweet secrets, hearty laughter, and great sex." Amanda is relatable by page 2 when you find out she put her search of a man on hold and put her effort into work. Lucky for her though fate handed her a man. She just wanted a man she could trust and love. By......more

This is one of Delinsky's older books, written in 2001. Wow ... it has been sitting on my shelf for some time. I'm glad I pulled it down though, as I really enjoyed it. It is a story of trust, jealousy and a struggle to keep love alive. It takes place on an affluent cul-de-sac in Connecticut, where......more

Uma leitura leve e agradá......more

In a suburban cul de sac, three families are unable to respect the privacy of a young, pregnant widow. This fictional depiction of how far women .. even men will go to root o......more
