Synopsis

What is one neighbor hiding? What does the other one see? In this blindsiding thriller of paranoia, obsession, and love gone wrong, neither one will be prepared for the answer. And neither will you…Escaping her broken marriage, successful author Elena settles into a hastily arranged sublet. Shattered, on the verge of coming unhinged, she’s unable to sleep, write, or even unpack. Then she discovers an innocent pastime to occupy her restless days and nights—watching her neighbors through the kitchen window. The Storms seem like the perfect family, but the more Elena sees and hears, the more she believes that there’s something terribly wrong in the house next door. She’s certain she’s an eyewitness to a violent marriage that could be building to a murderous climax. It’s all a little frightening. It’s also inspiring. Elena hasn’t felt this creative in years. Now she’s imagining the worst. To confirm her suspicions, she decides to watch a little closer—by following Mr. and Mrs. Storm into their secret lives, if only to save them from themselves. But as the dangers escalate, and the line between real and unreal threatens to dissolve, who will save Elena?

About Caroline Eriksson

Caroline Eriksson’s first two novels drew on a pair of historical Swedish murder cases. Her debut novel, The Devil Helped Me, earned a nomination for Sweden’s 2015 Big Audiobook Prize. Holding a master’s degree in social psychology, Caroline worked for more than a decade in human-resource management before realizing her dream of becoming a full-time author. A true “citizen of the world,” Caroline has traveled widely and has lived everywhere from Quantico, Virginia, to Adelaide, Australia, to her current home in Stockholm. Since raising her two children is now her greatest life adventure, Caroline satisfies her love of experiencing new and exciting places by exploring the most terrifying realm of all: the shadowy corners of the human psyche. The Watcher is Caroline’s second psychological thriller and her second book translated into English. She’s currently hard at work on her next novel.

4.5 Stars Elena is an author. Recently separated from her husband, she's finding it hard to concentrate on anything, let alone her writing. She's renting a house and has basically buried herself there. She's unable to eat, sleep, she hasn't even unpacked her things. Day by day, night by night, she wo......more

A Swedish version of RARE WINDOW, or THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW with the protagonist who's a writer this time. It's certainly more melancholic. Scenes on your own E-reader blur at times when it gets harder and harder to tell what the protagonist actually sees and what she imagines to be her fictitious s......more

Trudno jest mi sympatyzow......more

Shrug...there's something that probably should never be used to describe a thriller. And yet…Nothing’s wrong with it technically. It’s by the numbers suspense with female author and female protagonist, Scandinavian too, which comes across in no way at all, sadly, this book just refused to stand out......more

Psiholoģiskās spriedzes romāni man ir jaunums “ēdienkartē”!
