Synopsis

The original American full dramatization as broadcast on National Public Radio. The Fellowship is broken; the quest to destroy the Ring seems already shrouded in disaster. But as the evil lord Sauron readies his armies for war, Frodo and Sam continue their lonely journey toward Mordor, guided only by Gollum—a deceitful and tortured creature, helplessly in thrall to the Ring's dark power.

About J.R.R. Tolkien

J.R.R. Tolkien (1892.1973), beloved throughout the world as the creator of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, was a professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford, a fellow of Pembroke College, and a fellow of Merton College until his retirement in 1959. His chief interest was the linguistic aspects of the early English written tradition, but even as he studied these classics he was creating a set of his own.

After listening to the Hobbit, I started the Ring Trilogy. I never read the books in my younger days, and I just now discovered what I missed. Although The Hobbit was the best book by Tolkien, the trilogy is still great. MUCH better than the movies, including the extended versions. About the only thing the movies did better was the battle scenes. A most excellent listen!

4.5/5 stars “It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in......more

"It’s only a passing thing… this review. Even nerdiness must pass.” The Fellowship has fractured. Frodo and Sam travelling covertly towards Mount Doom; Merry and Pippin captured by orcs; Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli on their trail trying to rescue them. And from two separate fronts, the twin forces......more

Another Tolkien review? Yep, I’m putting out another Tolkien review. I’m on a mission, a mission to review everything written by Tolkien. And I literally mean everything. I’ve read most of his works, so I’m starting with those first before I move on to the few I haven’t read (there’s not many).This......more

Check out my YouTube channel where I show my instant reactions upon finishing reading fantasy books. Doesn't quite live up to the hype compared to today's standards, but still a very enjoyable experience Strangely enough, I didn't read this book until very recently. I wasn't into fantasy books whe......more
