Synopsis

The Septuagint GenesisFor the very first time available as an audiobook, narrated by Christopher GlynThe earliest voice of the Christian Church rings out clear and true across the centuries in Christopher Glyn’s reverent yet eminently listenable narration. It’s not often that you come across a document of such religious and historical importance as The Septuagint Genesis – in fact its significance would be hard to overstate. But what is the Septuagint? Well, its name refers to the “seventy’ (actually 72) translators – six from each tribe of Israel – who translated the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek, the primary language of Jews in Egypt at the time. This, the oldest and arguably most important translation, was the version of The Bible that Jesus himself would have read – and the one from which almost all the New Testament’s writers were quoting. In fact, some 300 passages directly quoted or referenced come from the Septuagint text. And that precious text rings out true and clear in Christopher Glyn’s reverent yet eminently listenable narration of The Septuagint Genesis. Only a narrator of Christopher’s vast scriptural knowledge and understanding, combined with the experience gained over a lifetime creating inspirational audio and video books, could be worthy of such a project. And to follow, we can look forward to many more audiobook instalments to come from this incomparable piece of religious history.

I think that if you want to go for realistic views and probability you should't take Barbara Cartland's novels. They are fairy tales for grownup girls. And you should't ask a lot from fairy tales. They are there to entertain and there is always a HEA and all heroines are beautiful and kind and mostl......more

This was my first Barbara Cartland read. Its a fair book. The hero and heroine only actually meet and spend time together more than 2/3 of the way through the book. The hero was also a bit too reserved for my liking. Fine if you like historical romance.......more
