Kahlil Gibran (1883–1931), a poet, philosopher, and artist, was born in Lebanon, a land that has produced many prophets. The millions of Arabic-speaking peoples familiar with his writings in that language consider him the genius of his age. But he was a man whose fame and influence spread far beyond the Near East. His poetry has been translated into more than twenty languages. His drawings and paintings have been exhibited in the great capitals of the world. He talks about life and death, love, religion, and spiritualism in such a profound manner that it will sink deep into our souls. This is my favorite book among all the works of Gibran. “Beauty is et......more
Sometimes the right book finds its way into your life at the right moment, and sometimes the words are exactly what you need to hear at that exact point in your life. The Prophet depicts life and action and motive as they should be. In all, it is a wise soul (a prophet) sharing his learning and wis......more
